In the 'Moving from detection to prevention'
section, IDC stated that "Although IDC has not
segmented the intrusion prevention market from the detection
market, IDC estimates that McAfee is the leading network
intrusion prevention vendor..."
|
| |
|
 |
In the same section, the report stated
that "IDC research estimates that about 80% of
those purchasing intrusion prevention capable products
are using some of the blocking features in the product."
|
| |
|
 |
IDC introduced their new FireDoor category
to represent those IDS/IPS products that are designed
to work within a corporate network. In the section titled
'Bring on the FireDoor', IDC stated that customers
"...are increasing the segmentation of the network,
increasing the monitoring and auditing of network and
user activity and hardening the network against malicious
activity. Vendors are responding to this development
by providing products that can perform the specialized
activities required for internal security.

|
 |
And, as a validation of our Protection-in-Depth
strategy IDC stated that "The ability to monitor
and respond to incidents at the network gateway, within
the network, and at the device level remain critical
to a defense-in-depth security infrastructure."
IDC recognition adds to existing Gartner, Infonetics
and Frost & Sullivan reports making IntruShield
the undisputed market leader.
