The CISAT lab at SecureSynergy promotes Security
simulation and research by providing technical leadership
for the company's security initiatives and service lines.
CISAT develops tests, test methods, reference data, proof
of concept implementations, curriculum and technical analyses
to advance the development and productive use of security
to enable businesses. CISAT's responsibilities include the
development of technical, physical, operational, administrative,
management standards and guidelines for the cost-effective
security and privacy of information infrastructures.
CISAT was inaugurated in the year 2002 with a mission to pursue
leading-edge security analysis side by side with research
into networks and information security, thus establishing
the groundwork to develop increasingly effective security
technologies.
Information security currently suffers from a shortage of
qualified specialists. Training is therefore one focus area
for the CISAT centre. CISAT offers first-class security education
and practical training. Diploma and certificate courses in
information security are also available through Engineering;
Management institutes affiliated to the centre, with a curriculum
oriented towards current and future security industry demands.
In addition there are curriculum offered for the corporate
sector, which is delivered through corporate training institutes
affiliated to the centre.
The simulation and analysis centre consists of three groups:
Information Security Group
This group researches and develops methods, techniques, and
tools to improve the reliability and security of complex systems.
These lead to more trustworthy approaches for modeling, testing,
and formally certifying the security of IT systems as well
as increase awareness through designed curriculum.
The Network Systems Group
This group conducts both interdisciplinary research and analysis
(for example capacity planning and performance management
of networks). It deals with computer networks, distributed
systems, VOIP networks, Wireless, Intrusion Protection, Forensics
etc and a special focus area for the group is security.
The Malicious Code Protection Group
This group pursues basic research on areas like patch management,
proactive security, managed monitoring etc, which forms the
foundation for several of SecureSynergy services.
Today, SecureSynergy's Centre for Information Security and
Assurance Technologies (CISAT) is engaged in providing high-end
information assurance solutions and training to the Government,
Defense Forces, Corporate houses, Institutions and Public
Sector Units. Studies have shown that the strongest, as well
as, the weakest link in the security network of an organisation
is the human factor and therefore, no IT Security measures
undertaken can be successfully implemented, without complete
Awareness and Training of all staff members. CISAT Information
Systems security courses are designed to create awareness
amongst users, enhance skill sets amongst IT and security
professionals and educate IT managers and top management about
IS security and information assurance.
SecureSynergy offers a broad spectrum of training options
- be it your goal to become certified or to simply become
more knowledgeable about security solutions. In keeping with
industry best practices, CISAT offers learning opportunities
through its own security awareness courses, and also in network
security.
