units, planting 1000 trees and conducting an awareness
program on the segregation of waste, and, health and
hygiene in the village on June 8, 2007.
With the primary occupation of Kurubarakunte being
pottery, the villagers largely depend on the rain for
their livelihood and have been facing severe water
shortage problems over the last few years. With the
objective of helping the community tackle their water
problems, the Intel India employees have been engaged in
the construction of about 13 rain water harvesting tanks

communities in Kurubarakunte. Such corporate NGO
partnerships go a long way in transforming communities
and the quality of life".
Additionally, the Intel employees have also been
involved in various other environment related
initiatives including the planting and maintenance of
more than 5000 trees in and around Bangalore in the last
