SecureSynergy Offers New PatchEasy Software

By Kalpana Naik-Chitre
Mumbai, January 22, 2004

SecureSynergy has launched a new automated patch management solution - PatchEasy - to address Patch management challenges by enterprises and SMEs.

Patch management refers to automatic updating or 'patchingof all networked PCs and servers with the required updates, security patches, bug fixes, version upgrades, service packs and signature updates to avoid security breaches or hacker attacks.

"Traditional manual approach to patch deployment is bound to fail because the volume of patches, network incidents and application vulnerabilities are outstripping the ability of IT staff to keep up to date and ready. PatchEasy is expected to bring in savings to enterprises in terms of money and time, while keeping control of the process and reports," said Anil Menon, senior vice president, SecureSynergy.

PatchEasy automates patch management for all Microsoft business and consumer applications like Windows Server 2003, XP, IIS, MS Office, Internet Explorer and several others, but do not support Solaris and Linux OS. It also supports English/German language OS configuration.

Web access is required for access to the latest updates from the master agent (server). Configuration requirement for management console is Intel Pentium class CPU, 32 MB RAM, Windows NT 4.0, SP 4+, Windows 2000 or XP, 30 MB disk space for installation, additional free space for patches to install, IE 5+.

The pricing of the automated patch managed solution is based on the number of PCs/servers managed. The cost per user is Rs 500.

PatchEasy will be available with one-, two- and three-year subscription options and will be available through SecureSynergy's distributor TechPac and channel organization. SecureSynergy system integrators will tap B and C class cities.
