SecureSynergy, a Mumbai-based
technology services company and leader in information assurance, on
Wednesday launched its automated patch management solution -
PatchEasy.
PatchEasy offers organizations
of all sizes an efficient and effective way to manage and deploy
patches with ease, SecureSynergy said. In large enterprises with
complex networking environments patch management process can be even
more challenging, it added.
PatchEasy enables enterprises
to review and deploy patches that have been thoroughly tested for
inter-dependencies and compatibility within their unique IT
environment, the company said. PatchEasy makes the otherwise
complicated process very simple ensuring that corporate information
is secure along with robust management reporting features, it
added.
PatchEasy automates patch
management for all Microsoft business and consumer applications like
Windows Server 2003, XP, IIS, MS Office, Internet Explorer and
several others. SecureSynergy would start supporting Sun
Microsystems' Solaris and the popular open source platform Linux
from the next quarter.
The company has already
deployed PatchEasy on 10,000 desktops in India and about 4,200
abroad, said Anil Menon, Senior Vice President, SecureSynergy. It
has so far secured 5 clients in India and 2 abroad, he added.
SecureSynergy has sold the
product in Middle-East, Egypt and other Gulf countries, and expects
to launch it in Australia and New Zealand by March, Menon
said.
The company would market
PatchEasy through its exclusive national distributor, Tech Pacific,
and also through its own 5 locations across the country, Menon
said.
Menon said that SecureSynergy
sees the Indian market for the product at around Rs2.04bn. In the
first year of operations the company aims to deploy PatchEasy on 2
lakh PCs and expects to earn Rs102mn, he added.
SecureSynergy charges Rs500
per desktop. PatchEasy is also available on a subscription basis for
one year, two years and three years, Menon said. The cost per unit
in overseas market is between US$18-24, he said.
"Every week 60 new software
vulnerabilities and more than 100 new viruses are detected with
companies receiving an average of 300 IT-related security threats
each month. Closely monitoring, testing and staying current with
security patches on all systems goes a long way in addressing the
most common vulnerabilities," said Capt. Felix Mohan, CEO,
SecureSynergy.
"Traditional manual approach
to patch deployment is bound to fail because the volume of patches,
network incidents and application vulnerabilities are outstripping
the ability of IT staff to keep up to date and ready. PatchEasy is
expected to bring in huge savings to enterprises in terms of money
and time while keeping control of the process and reports," said
Menon. |
